IPL 2019 | Delhi vs Chennai - Last Five Encounters

Head to Head record between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capital (formerly Delhi Daredevils) is not least for reading beautifully for Delhi fans.

Of these eighteen games, these teams have played against each other, Chennai have been victorious on twelve occasions, Delhi has won in six other matches.

Both teams have started their 2019 Indian Premier League campaign with a win and they will face face-to-face on Tuesday (March 26th) at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Here are a look at the top five bouts between the two sides:

Delhi v Chennai, IPL 2013 (Chennai won by 86 runs)

In 2013, the match between the two sides in Kotla is memorable for CSK fans, but there is one such that the loyalists of Delhi will be forgotten.

After Michael Hussey's half century, Suresh Raina scored 30 and MS Dhoni scored 44 runs, which saw 169-run lead. However, considering the power of Delhi's batting at that time it was not impossible to chase the score.

However, Delhi faced a batting which saw them out for only 83 - their lowest total score against CSK. Only three batsmen - Virender Sehwag, Kedar Jadhav and Jeevan Mendis - put forward double figures scores in the form of Mohit Sharma (3/10) and R Ashwin (2/18) with the ball.

The first match between the two sides was a high scoring case, which saw two Indian openers at the peak of their powers and took the game away completely from Chennai, who were successful in making the final place in the first edition.

The CSK openers did not set the fire, but the half-century innings of S Vidhu and the useful lower order of MS Dhoni and Albie Morkel were to finish them in the first innings at 169/6.

However, Virender Sehwag (71) and Gautam Gambhir (50) shared 113 runs. Sehwag, especially on his destructive best, used to hit 7 fours and 4 sixes while staying on the crease, because Delhi boys laid the foundations of winning easily.

Another win of 86 for Chennai, but this time the stakes were high because it was the second qualifier in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Earlier, batting first, CSK made a huge score of 222/5. Murali Vijay scored 113 runs in 58 balls, in which he hit 15 fours and 4 sixes and ended up after the run out of David Warner. Dhoni scored 23 runs, Raina scored 27 and Dwayne Bravo scored 33 runs.

In response, Delhi lost both Warner and Sehwag early and even a difficult task became difficult. Mahela Jayawardene made a half-century, but got some support from him and his departure ended the last time and the possibility of arriving in the Delhi finals also ended.

Last time, when both of these teams clashed, Delhi got a consolation victory, which, in order to please its fans, occasionally formed a bad form in the lower part of the table after the bad form and without chance in the play-off.

Delhi v Chennai, IPL 2018 (Delhi won by 34 runs)

The important contribution of Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar and Harsheel Patel to Delhi's post 162/5 in the first innings, the overall batting order of Chennai could have been completely demolished because many of his batsmen were in good form.

Ambati Rayudu made the half-century, but he got hard work to come up in the competition started by other CSK batsmen, but he could not convert them, which meant that they completed their quota of 128/6.

Chennai v Delhi, IPL 2015 (Chennai won by 1 run)

A low-scoring match can often be seen to be exciting and the same happened in 2015 between these two teams.

CSK played useful innings in 150 innings with Dwayne Smith (34), Faf du Plessis (32), Dhoni (30) and Ravindra Jadeja (17) in the first innings. This was not a very high goal for a standard T20 match, but the spinner's favorable conditions in Chennai followed it with a stern challenge.

In reply, Delhi lost both openers cheaply, but Albie Morkel's 73 * innings took him home. To win the last ball, the far-off team needed 6, but Morkel could only hit a boundary, which means CSK won by his skins.
